El camionero Nabil Al-Zoqari, de Laz Parking, pronto ser\u00e1 padre de un reci\u00e9n nacido y se est\u00e1 preparando para ese momento programando d\u00edas libres en el trabajo. Tiempo que tiene derecho a tomarse debido a la (FMLA)Ley de Baja M\u00e9dica Familiar.<\/p>\n\n<p>As\u00ed que la semana pasada, Nabil y su delegado, Ghebreyesus, se reunieron con el agente comercial James Long y con Laz Parking para asegurarse de que la empresa ten\u00eda claro que Nabil quer\u00eda reclamar parte de su baja por FMLA. Sin el apoyo y la representaci\u00f3n sindical, los trabajadores de empresas no sindicadas podr\u00edan ni siquiera saber que existe la FMLA o no tendr\u00edan confianza para ejercer esta opci\u00f3n. La FMLA permite a los trabajadores ausentarse hasta 12 semanas por motivos m\u00e9dicos, como el parto.<\/p>\n\n<p>Este es un ejemplo del trabajo diario que los Teamsters hacen por sus miembros. La madre ya no se queda en casa, ambos progenitores trabajan a jornada completa, y tener un hijo era visto por muchas empresas como un impedimento para su rentabilidad final. Los trabajadores no pod\u00edan pedir la baja por reci\u00e9n nacidos u otras circunstancias m\u00e9dicas sin enfrentarse a la amenaza de despido.<\/p>\n\n<p>Sin embargo, en 1993, bajo el liderazgo del presidente Bill Clinton, el Congreso vot\u00f3 y promulg\u00f3 la Ley de Baja M\u00e9dica Familiar.
